Angela + Alfonso Maternity Session / Half Moon Bay, CA

Maternity sessions are not something I do often but when Angela contacted me about photographing her and her husband during her pregnancy I instantly understood her vision and what she wanted to create. She imagined lots of redwoods and greenery and light coming through the trees. There was a spot near Half Moon Bay that I instantly thought of and suggested that for our shoot.

We ended up having to reschedule this shoot around 3 times. It was during a particularly rainy month in California and when I do maternity shoots I always make sure we’re in the best and safest conditions. But of course because we had to keep rescheduling it meant we were inching closer to her due date. I kept asking if she wanted to postpone until after the baby was born but she was still happy to go through with it.

And what an absolute badass she was. Her pregnancy hadn’t been an easy one and during the shoot she’d occasionally have to stop and take a break. She’d take deep breaths, sit down for a moment, and then fix her hair and get back to it. Both me and Alfonso were so amazed.

Angela and Alfonso are such a lovely and caring couple and not long after our shoot they welcomed their beautiful daughter Ava into the world. I wish these two all the best on their new journey with sweet Ava.
