Kim + Steven Proposal / Lake Tahoe, CA

I honestly don’t even know how long I’ve known Kim for. Her and my older sister have been best friends since as long as I can remember. Around the time I was in Junior High School she basically became the fourth Krebs sister. She came on every family vacation, broke up many sisterly fights, and was there through every family illness and milestone. So the fact that I was able to be there during this milestone for her was amazing.

Once I moved back to California we had planned to set up a shoot for her and Steven. They’ve been dating for nine and a half years and I had been wanting to do a shoot in Tahoe anyway. Once we started to set things up, I got a private message from Steven…saying he was planning on proposing during the shoot. I freaked out, called my sister and immediately started planning how we could make this special.

We opted for South Lake Tahoe as Steven’s family has a cabin in the area and he knows it well. We woke up at 4am to get there around sunrise and when I met them at the Raleys parking lot I was already nervous (as I’m sure so was Steven). We first headed to a beautiful, golden meadow near Fallen Leaf Lake. There were horses in the field and at one point we even had a coyote as our audience. About twenty minutes into the shoot I asked Kim to stand facing the mountains as Steven was going to run up to her and give her a big bear hug. Instead, he walked up behind her and got on his knee.

After lots of hugging and big smiles and of course Kim saying yess! we headed over to Fallen Leaf Lake which was so windy but so stunning. I’m so glad Steven was there to show me these hidden gems that I can’t wait to revisit.

Afterwards we made our way to Lily Lake which was an autumnal dream. Steven said he’d show us his family’s cabin which is tucked away in the woods and can’t be accessed by car. When we arrived both of their families were waiting there to celebrate.

We ate doughnuts and drank champagne to celebrate this amazing moment in their lives and I honestly felt so lucky to be a part of it all. Couldn’t be happier for these two.
